Limone Sul Garda, nestled in the Province of Brescia, Lombardy, is one of the hidden gems along the shores of the famous Lake Garda. Known for its picturesque streets and historical charm, Limone is not only beautiful but also rich in citrus references—think lemons on street signs, in shop decor, and even in local products like soaps and limoncello. Surprisingly, despite the lemon theme, the town’s name isn’t directly connected to lemons. But that’s all part of Limone’s quirky charm!
How to Spend a Day in Limone Sul Garda Italy
Limone Sul Garda can make a perfect half-day trip to a full day, depending on your plans. You can also rent a hotel in the town and stay for a night or two. Whether you plan to stay for a few hours or overnight, Limone Sul Garda has plenty to offer.
We arrived around noon and immediately indulged in the local cuisine. Limone is home to some fantastic restaurants, and we couldn’t resist ordering two delicious pizzas and an Aperol Spritz—a perfect Italian combination. If you’re a pasta lover, the Fungi Fettuccine with its rich and creamy mushroom sauce is a must-try.
Tip: For the best dining experience, grab a table with a view of the lake. Not only will you enjoy the food, but you’ll also get lost in the stunning lake and mountain views.
When to Visit & What to Wear
The weather in Limone Sul Garda varies throughout the year, but it’s generally mild and Mediterranean. Summers (June to August) can get hot, with temperatures ranging from 25°C to 30°C (77°F to 86°F), while spring and fall are cooler, making it ideal for walking tours and outdoor activities.
Winters are mild but can be rainy and windy with temperatures around 10°C to 15°C (50°F to 59°F).
What to Wear:
- Summer: Lightweight, breathable clothing, sunglasses, and a wide-brimmed hat are recommended. Don’t forget comfortable walking shoes, as Limone’s cobblestone streets can be tricky.
- Spring/Fall: Layer up! A light jacket or sweater is perfect for cooler mornings and evenings. A scarf will keep you comfortable in the breezy lake air.
- Winter: A medium-weight jacket and waterproof shoes will keep you warm and dry if you visit during the cooler months.

Parking is conveniently located at the entrance to Limone’s main street. While it is a paid parking lot, it’s well worth it for the ease of access. Once you park, you can easily stroll through the town without worrying about your car.
What’s Around Limone Sul Garda?
If you’re planning to explore the surrounding areas, keep in mind that while the towns around Lake Garda may look close on a map, the reality can be quite different. Northern Italy’s narrow roads, numerous cyclists, and occasional fatigue mean you’ll want to take your time and not pack too much into one day.
Here are a couple of great spots near Limone Sul Garda to consider:
Lake Tenno (40-minute drive)
If you have time, don’t miss Lake Tenno. Known for its surreal turquoise waters and peaceful ambiance, it’s the perfect spot for a relaxing picnic. Pack a blanket, some snacks, and a bottle of wine, and let yourself unwind by the shore. Trust me, the colors here are unlike anything you’ve seen before!
Riva del Garda (15-minute drive)
Although we skipped Riva del Garda on this trip, it’s another charming town worth visiting, especially if you’re a fan of stunning lake views and vibrant piazzas.
